Char and Mike will be married July 11, 2009.

Things to do in Santa Cruz

One of my favorite places is Monterey Bay Aquarium. I've been there multiple times and it never gets old. It holds some of the most amazing pictures you can ever capture. Also, for something closer than the Monterey Bay Aquarium, visit the Seymour Marine Center. Our friends were married here a few years ago, and it is both a beautiful location, and an educational opportunity.

Naturally you can't visit Santa Cruz without seeing the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. In the summer, it is totally happening. Even if you don't go for the rollercoasters, the scenery and people watching is really cool!

Nearby, is the Santa Cruz Wharf, Cowell's Beach for the visiting beginner surfers, and Steamer's Lane for the more advanced. Keep in mind, the water here is ALWAYS cold. Wetsuit and board rentals are available nearby.

You can also do some shopping (real or window) and eating in downtown Santa Cruz, or in very cute Capitola Village.

Of course, besides the beachside action, there is the amazing greenery, such as Henry Cowells Redwood State Park. If you have never been in a redwood forest you have to check it out. This is also the home of the Roaring Camp Narrow Gauge Railroad. Take a train ride through the redwoods, and down to the beach!

There is golf (both of the traditional and frisbee varieties), as well as hiking and mountain biking in and around De Laveaga Park.

Check out the UC Santa Cruz Campus! Mike had a lovely time there getting edumacated. They have a really nice Arboretum (where Mike had his Horticulture class!)

If you get a chance, check out Evergreen Cemetery. It is really neat. It always feels like I am in an Edward Gorey book when we visit! It also happens to be just down the street from the wedding reception!
